Equipment and Modification Services (EMS)

An EMS-qualified assessor can consider disability-related equipment needs. Disability Support Services identifies Accessable and Enable New Zealand as its equipment providers; the assessment determines the appropriate equipment and funding route.

Start with your GP or local hospital community health service for a referral to an EMS-qualified assessor. The official guidance describes equipment loans for assessed needs and generally excludes equipment already bought privately or needed for less than six months. A short demonstration or holiday rental is therefore a different enquiry from a long-term equipment application.

Can I buy first and apply for reimbursement later?

Do not rely on reimbursement after buying. DSS guidance generally excludes equipment already purchased privately. Get the responsible service to confirm the process first.

Is a trial available in my town?

Send your town and preferred dates. Local stock, fitting arrangements and trial availability need confirmation; a country page does not mean there is an Exo Motion clinic nearby.
